A fantasy romance musical adaptation of the hit webtoon and drama "Yumi's Cells" runs through Aug 23 at Seoul Arts Center CJ Towol Theater. The 160-minute original production by Sam Company and Studio N reimagines the story from a 'cell's perspective' (전지적 세포 시점), turning Yumi’s ordinary dating troubles into spectacular, imaginative stage sequences where her internal 'cell village' faces floods, mountain expeditions, and zombie towns. A new apprentice cell called '109' (견습 세포) plays a central role alongside Yumi’s prime love cell, adding mystery and fresh narrative layers not in the original. The production uses LED and media art to bring 2D webtoon elements to life—such as a rotating 'brain mill' and a 'wish board'—and features 25 musical numbers that highlight both major and minor cells. Overall, the show comforts and encourages self-love by portraying how all of Yumi’s cells work to care for her even in lonely moments.
