World-renowned pianist Cho Seong-jin, named resident artist at Seoul’s Lotte Concert Hall, has programmed and invited top international colleagues for chamber concerts on July 14 and a solo recital on July 19. For the chamber program he brought together musicians including Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster Daishin Kashimoto, principal clarinetist Bensel Fuchs, violist Park Kyung-min (the first Korean lifetime member of the Berlin Philharmonic), and cellist Kian Soltani to present works by Brahms. Cho said musical rapport and shared musical attitude matter more than technical skill when selecting partners, and emphasized that pieces can gain new meaning over time — he still has many good works he has not yet performed. The solo recital will feature a varied program from Bach and Schumann to Chopin and Schoenberg. Cho invited audiences to come enjoy the performances and share energy with the musicians.
