Controversial TV Chef Lim Seong-geun Opens New Three-Story Restaurant in Paju

Lim Seong-geun, who gained attention on Netflix’s reality show Black & White Chefs: Cooking Class Wars (season 2) but later halted TV activities amid revelations about past drunk-driving and assault convictions, has opened a new restaurant in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. On Instagram he thanked supporters and shared that the three-story venue will house: a first-floor specialty of jjageul-jjigae (stew), a second-floor ‘bakpo galbi’ (grilled short rib) restaurant—both dishes he is known for—and a café on the third floor. The restaurant held a soft opening from the 6th to 8th and will officially open on the 9th; initially it will not take reservations to serve more customers. Lim rose to fame after winning tvN’s Hansik Daecheop 3 (Korean cuisine competition) in 2015 and later reached the final seven on Black & White Chefs 2, but admitted earlier this year on his YouTube channel that he had multiple past DUI offenses (drunk driving), which prompted his pause from broadcasting.
