High1 Water World, located around 900 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Baekdudaegan range in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, has opened for summer with a cool, mosquito-free forest atmosphere that makes air conditioning unnecessary. The resort’s indoor and outdoor areas total about 51,038 m², offering generous space per visitor and convenient onsite parking for 1,046 cars. Unusually, the waterpark uses Grade-1 pristine valley water drawn from the upstream Mureung Valley of the Namhan River—home to the endangered trout yeolmokeo (열목어)—resulting in clean, fresh-feeling pools that attract families with sensitive-skinned children. The park is divided into three zones: Family Zone (with shallow “bebe pool” and therapeutic “bade pool”), Island Zone (featuring the fast “X River” and the huge dumping “Island Play”), and the highlight Poseidon Zone, which produces 3-meter waves and adrenaline-pumping rides like the Poseidon Blaster slide. This year also introduces Korea’s first waterproof VR attractions on slides and a VR snorkeling area with transparent glass pool floors, blending physical thrills with immersive metaverse visuals. Between the cool mountain breezes, clear valley water, and high-tech attractions, High1 promises a refreshing alternative to city heat and humid tropical nights.
