Korean Dancers Win Top Prizes at Moscow International Ballet Competition

At the 15th Moscow International Ballet Competition, Korean dancers achieved historic success: Kim Min-jin (20) won first place in the senior women's duet, and Lee Kang-won (21) won first place in the senior men's duet—marking the first time Koreans took gold in the competition's senior division. In the junior men's solo, Park Keun-byeol-bit (15) also won first place. The finalists performed classical pieces including Grand pas classique, Talisman pas de deux (a duet), La Esmeralda pas de deux, and Siegfried–Odile pas de deux from Swan Lake. The Moscow competition, founded in 1969 and held every four years, is one of the world’s most prestigious ballet contests (often called the “ballet Olympics”) and is counted among the top four international ballet competitions alongside Jackson, Varna, and Lausanne.
