Hyundai Green Food Supplies Low-Carbon Pork to Company Cafeterias

Hyundai Green Food, part of the Hyundai Department Store Group, will start supplying low-carbon pork to about 600 group meal sites nationwide from this month, delivering around 30 tons annually (about 10% of the company’s yearly hind-leg pork usage). The pork comes from farms certified as 'low-carbon livestock farms' (farms that cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 10% through measures like lower-protein feed and converting farm byproducts to bioenergy). Menu items will include dishes such as pork-garlic-sprout bibimbap, pork and cabbage rice bowls, and pork ragu pasta. This is the first large-scale move in Korea’s institutional catering sector; low-carbon pork has mostly been limited to school meals and niche retail due to fewer producers and higher prices. Hyundai Green Food tested demand with its monthly “Green Day” low-carbon menus since 2021 before moving to regular supply.
