Taebaek’s summer cultural season features a large mixed-media art exhibition and multiple outdoor performances. From July 11–20 the ‘Gangwon Modern Artists Association Confluence — Taebaek 2026’ show will run at the Taebaek Culture & Arts Center, presenting work by 50 artists (including 25 female artists from Gangwon), with paintings, sculpture, and crafts on display. On July 16–17 the Hwangji Pond outdoor stage will host “Music and Theater Flowing Through the Waterway,” with local ensembles on the 16th and invited professional groups on the 17th combining music, popular (yeonye) entertainment, gugak (Korean traditional music), and theater. On July 18–19 the 18th “Midsummer Night’s Arts & Culture Gala” offers deeper performances by local arts associations plus interactive events such as a poetry-and-painting exhibition, fan calligraphy (buchaehagwon—fan brushwork) demonstrations, and free family photos for tourists. Organizers hope the festival—one of Taebaek’s largest exhibitions—will let residents and visitors enjoy a wide variety of Korean culture.
