Lotte Concert Hall will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a gala concert titled “Passage: Connecting Through Sounds” on August 19. The program’s theme, “Passage,” reflects looking back and beginning a new journey. Past and current in-house artists will reunite, including the Korean Chamber Orchestra (music director Kim Min) from the 2020–2021 season, cellists Moon Tae-guk (문태국) and Choi Ha-young (최하영), pianists Shin Chang-yong (신창용) and Lee Jin-sang (이진상), and violinist Yoon So-young (윤소영). Organist Lee Min-joon (winner of the 2nd Korea International Organ Competition) will perform, with Choi Soo-yeol conducting and broadcaster Oh Sang-jin hosting. The concert has three parts: 1) “Beginning of the Journey” features Lee Min-joon on pipe organ performing Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor and the world premiere of Iha Neuri’s new work “Jabdongsani #4” (잡동사니 #4); cellist Choi Ha-young and pianist Shin Chang-yong will play the fourth movement of Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata. 2) “Passage” presents Shostakovich’s Five Pieces for Two Cellos and Piano performed by Choi, Moon and Shin. 3) “Resounding Together” brings the Korean Chamber Orchestra, soloists Yoon, Moon and Lee to perform the first movement of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and closes with movements 2 and 5 of Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings. The event is a free invitation for Lotte Concert Hall Vineyard membership holders; ticket reservations opened August 3 at 2 PM.
