Hyundai Green Food, a food services unit of Hyundai Department Store Group, has started supplying low-carbon certified pork (produced on farms certified as “low-carbon livestock” by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Livestock Products Quality Assessment Service) to corporate cafeterias this month—the first regular supply of such pork in Korea’s large-scale catering sector. The initial supply is 30 tonnes per year, about 10% of the company’s annual pork hind-leg usage for group meals. Since 2021, Hyundai Green Food has run “Green Day,” offering low-carbon menus twice a month at participating sites; roughly 600 of its 650 contract cafeterias now take part. New menu items using low-carbon pork will include pork-garlic-sprout bibimbap, pork-cabbage rice bowls, and pork ragu pasta. The company plans to scale up supply as production grows and to expand related menu development, positioning itself as a provider of healthier, more sustainable food.
