The Broadway hit musical Frozen, adapted from Disney’s animation, opens in Korea on August 13 at the Charlotte Theater and runs through March 1, 2027. Creators and songwriting duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—who also wrote for the films—reworked eight original songs and added twelve new numbers for the stage, deepening Elsa and Anna’s childhood backstory and character development. The team tested many versions (the new opening alone was revised more than 20 times) and integrated familiar melodies like “Let It Go” throughout to boost emotional continuity. Director Michael Grandage helped shape a dramatic Nordic-flavored opening that ties early events into “For the First Time in Forever.” The show promises powerful visual and musical moments—cast includes Jung Sun-ah, Jung Yu-ji, Min Kyung-ah as Elsa and Park Jin-joo, Hong Geum-bi, Choi Ji-hye as Anna, with other notable Korean performers in roles such as Kristoff and Olaf. Creators say the stage production will surprise both fans of the film and newcomers with fresh storytelling and theatrical spectacle.
