Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 9, sold 7,239 units in South Korea in the first half of the year—more than double last year’s 3,608—maintaining monthly sales above 1,000 since subsidies began. Ranking second among Hyundai EVs after the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 9 outsold cheaper models like the Ioniq 6 and widened its lead over rival Kia EV9 (1,552 units). Thanks to a large 110.3 kWh battery and an impressive 532 km single-charge range, the Ioniq 9 eased range anxiety for buyers. Sales are also rising abroad: 4,001 units sold in the U.S. from January to May and 1,655 in Europe over the same period. Competition is heating up as Tesla Korea launched a stretched Model Y L with a 543 km range, leaving market watchers focused on second-half trends.
