Wow! Summer Begins — Three Chungnam Beaches Open July 4

Chungcheongnam-do’s West Coast beaches are opening for the summer season. Out of 26 beaches in the province, Boryeong Daecheon, Taean Mallipo, and Seocheon Chunjangdae open July 4 and will operate through August 23; the remaining 23 beaches open July 11. Daecheon and Muchangpo beaches will start swimming hours one hour earlier than last year. Boryeong will host the annual Boryeong Mud Festival (a popular summer festival) from July 24 to August 9, featuring a pet beach and a sandy playground for families. Mallipo Beach will offer extended night hours (until 9 PM) from August 12–17. The province is deploying 347 lifeguards (18 more than last year), adding safety towers, rescue equipment, signs, and buoys; 119 citizen water rescue teams and special rapid-response units will operate at key beaches. Authorities will crack down on overcharging and illegal beach camping (including “car camping” and staking tents) with fines and enforcement. Officials say they are prioritizing safety as more tourists are expected this summer.
