The Gangwon Women Calligraphers Association opens its 30th annual exhibition tomorrow at Gallery Sol in Gangneung (Korean Women's Training Center), running through August 1. Titled “Tinted by the Wisdom of a Thousand Years: The Thousand Character Classic,” the show features 68 members who reinterpret 250 phrases from the classic Thousand Character Classic (Cheonjamun) in contemporary calligraphy. This year’s event also serves as a Korea–Japan exchange with 30 Japanese calligraphers from Toyama Prefecture participating. Organizers say the exhibition aims to present the ancient text as living art and offer visitors a moment of calm and reflection. The opening ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and the exhibition is supported by Gangwon Province, Gangneung City, the Korean Women's Training Center, and a local newspaper.
