The Gangneung City Symphony Orchestra will present its 153rd subscription concert at the Gangneung Art Center (Saimdang Hall) on the evening of the 3rd and the afternoon of the 4th. Conductor Jeong Min will lead the orchestra with acclaimed pianist Lim Dong-hyuk as soloist. Lim, a top-tier pianist who placed highly in the world’s three major competitions (Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Queen Elizabeth) and won France’s prestigious Diapason d’Or award, is also known in Korea for creating a devoted fanbase and being called a “classical idol.” The program includes Wagner’s overture to the opera Tannhäuser, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 in B-flat minor, and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique. The concert is suitable for elementary school age and up; tickets are 20,000 KRW (R) and 10,000 KRW (S) and can be booked via the Gangneung Art Center website. Shim Gyu-man, director of the art center, said he hopes the performance will help attendees rediscover cherished memories and share deep emotion together.
