Since May, Gangneung’s Haslla Gangneung Immersive Art Show (Haslla is an old local name) has transformed the pine-forest park honoring Joseon-era writers Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon into a nightly media-art attraction. The free, 25-minute shows start at 8 PM and use an 8m-high LED screen, reactive lighting among pine trees, and dramatic music (including original gugak—traditional Korean music—compositions) to create a strong immersive effect without cutting the trees. Alongside the high-tech forest spectacle, Gangneung offers evening live music on Anmok and Gangmun beaches through the “Busking Wave Gangneung” series (May–September) and a lively night market on the old railway turned park, Wolhwa Street Night Market, featuring unique street foods and crafts. The mix of nature, media art, live performance, and food makes Gangneung’s nights a new draw for visitors.
