Glutathione, a tripeptide made of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine, is rising from clinical use into mainstream beauty as both an ingestible and topical antioxidant. Known for neutralizing free radicals and shifting melanin pathways toward clearer pheomelanin (resulting in brighter skin tone), it first gained recognition in cosmetic procedures and supplements, and is now expanding rapidly into skin-care lines focused on skin longevity. Brands like Rael launched a glutathione-centered duo cleanser and mask plus ingestible “liposomal glutathione” products for inside-out care, using a proprietary microbiome-led formula. Dermocosmetic Dr.G released glutathione serums and creams formulated for sensitive skin that combine glutathione with tranexamic acid and madecassoside. Many-Known-as “Manyo Factory” (brand) introduced nano glutathione serums and patches for dark spots on domestic and Japanese e-commerce platforms, blending niacinamide and NAG for brightening. Other brands are fortifying existing lines—Seedmool added 2% powdered glutathione and 5% niacinamide to a hydration lotion to target pigmentation without losing a light feel. Overall, the trend reflects growing demand for multifunctional antioxidants that can be taken and applied to support clearer, longer‑lasting skin health.
