From the 7th, Daegu Kansong Museum opens a permanent gallery for ‘Portrait of a Beauty’ (Miindo) by late Joseon painter Hyewon Shinyunbok (1758–1814). The famed work, celebrated for its vivid depiction of refined late-Joseon women's fashion, has rarely been accessible to the public and drew crowds whenever shown. The new space, inspired by a hanok (traditional Korean house), places the painting alone in a small, paper-lined room reached by a softly lit corridor, allowing visitors an undisturbed, intimate viewing. To ensure optimal conditions, the museum may limit concurrent visitors during busy periods. Museum director Jeon In-geon called the permanent display significant for enabling everyday encounters with this singular masterpiece of Korean art.
