Baek Jong-won, the CEO of The Born Korea, has been booked by police for allegedly misleading consumers about the origin of the products at his cafe chain 'Baekdabang'. The company promoted its new product 'Chewy Sweet Potato Bread' as made from 'Our Agricultural Products', despite mentioning that it might include some Chinese ingredients. A complainant accused Baekdabang of deliberately omitting 'Chinese origin' from their ads to mislead customers into thinking the product was entirely locally sourced. This issue follows other recent controversies surrounding the company regarding mislabeling of product origins.
