Korea’s grocery shopping habits are shifting from planning orders the night before to on-demand, small-quantity purchases through quick commerce services. Platforms like Baemin B Mart and Baemin Commerce saw order volume and sales rise by about 30–42% year-on-year, with fresh items—tofu, eggs, bean sprouts—showing especially strong growth. SSG.com’s ‘BaroQuick’ (nearby quick delivery service) sales jumped 168% from January to May, with fresh produce making up 45% of orders. Convenience stores and SSMs (corporate supermarkets) are also seeing large increases in quick commerce sales—GS25’s quick commerce revenue nearly doubled and fresh-food sales grew over 400%—driven by small-package fresh products and everyday essentials like skincare and diapers. Retailers expect quick commerce to complement existing e-commerce, meeting busy consumers’ demand for immediate, local delivery and easy exchanges at nearby stores.
