South Korea’s tourism agency hosted 33 overseas food and travel influencers from June 29 to July 2 for the “K-Local Food Hunters 33” culinary tour. Rather than focusing on Seoul’s famous dishes, the program highlighted regional everyday and heritage foods—such as Gangneung’s chodang sundubu (soft tofu made by curdling soy milk), Jeonju bibimbap, Sunchang jang (fermented soybean paste) and gochujang workshops, Andong jjimdak (braised chicken with vegetables and glass noodles), Daegu’s mungsogi (thickly sliced raw beef), and Busan’s pork-and-rice soup, dwaeji-gukbap. Activities combined cooking classes, traditional tea houses, markets, hanok (traditional house) villages, makgeolli and soju tastings, jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouse) experiences, and local sightseeing to show how food connects with landscape, history, and daily life. The tour aims to expand K-food promotion from Seoul to regional culinary tourism by sharing immersive food-and-culture experiences via influencers’ social media.
