The Estonia National Symphony Orchestra, marking its 100th anniversary, will make its first-ever visit to South Korea in September, performing at Bucheon Arts Center (Sept 20) and Seoul Arts Center (Sept 22). Conducted by Olari Elts, the program opens with Tõnu Kõrvits’s Aurora-inspired piece, followed by piano concertos with Korean star Yekwon Sunwoo: Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 “Emperor” in Bucheon and Schumann’s only piano concerto in Seoul (Sunwoo’s first time performing it in Korea). The second half features Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 “Fate.” The orchestra, founded in 1926, has appeared at major venues worldwide, and conductor Elts is noted for his fresh interpretations with top ensembles.
