The Estonian National Orchestra will make its first tour to Korea with concerts at Bucheon Arts Center on Sept 20 and Seoul Arts Center on Sept 22, celebrating the orchestra's 100th anniversary and 35 years of diplomatic ties between Korea and Estonia. Pianist Sunwoo Yekwon will be the soloist, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.5 “Emperor” on Sept 20 and Schumann's Piano Concerto on Sept 22. The program includes Tõnu Kõrvits’s 'Hymn for Aurora' (representing Estonian contemporary music) and Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 'Fate'. Separately, playwright-director Choi Chang-geun premieres his first new play in 15 years, The Power of Fate, which he wrote and directs. The drama explores a family's grief and memories after a death, centering on a retiring father and his three daughters who recall the deceased 'So-jin' during a reunion. The play runs Aug 25–Sept 6 at Daehangno Theater Come (Daehangno is Seoul’s main theater district).
