Busan’s Nakdong Arts Center launches the NAC@2026 Regional Private Symphony Festival from July 3–26, showcasing six local private orchestras from Busan and nearby Gimhae. The festival, unique in Korea for featuring only private (non-government) orchestras, aims to give lesser-known ensembles steady performance opportunities and reduce barriers to classical music with familiar programs by Beethoven, Mozart, Elgar, and Tchaikovsky. Tickets are affordable at 10,000 won. Special events include a concert on July 9 with Korea’s celebrated pianist Son Yeol-eum and the Going Home Project (a chamber group formed by international musicians), and performances with acclaimed soloists like Aristo Sham, cellist Hong Seung-ah, and violinist Jin Young-hoon. Organizers hope to grow the event into an annual Busan summer tradition and four of seven performances (including the special concert) are already sold out.
