Too Plain? Try Lemon Water — How to Drink It Safely This Summer

Summer heat raises dehydration risk, and many find plain water unpalatable. Adding lemon (레몬) slices or juice to water brightens the taste and helps people meet the recommended 1.5–2 L daily intake. Flavored water with lemon, lime, mint (민트), cucumber (오이) or berries encourages regular sipping. Lemon contains vitamin C and some pectin (수용성 식이섬유), which can modestly aid iron absorption, antioxidant intake and short-term fullness, though lemon water is not a detox or fat-burning cure—those effects lack scientific support. For everyday use, squeeze about half a lemon into a cup of water, serve cold or lukewarm, and avoid added sugar. Protect teeth by using a straw, rinsing with plain water after drinking, and waiting ~30 minutes before brushing because citric acid (구연산) can weaken enamel; people with acid reflux should be cautious.
