The Korea Tourism Organization launched “K-Local Food Hunters 33,” inviting 33 food and travel influencers from Greater China, Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas—with a combined 21.3 million SNS followers—to take part in regional gourmet tours through June 29 to July 2. After a kick-off in Seoul featuring a K-food cooking class and visits to a traditional tea house and a calligraphy shop, the influencers split into three regional routes: Gangwon (chodang sundubu (soft tofu), mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), dakgalbi), Jeolla (jeonju bibimbap, hong-eo samhab (fermented skate trio), gochujang from Sunchang, tteokgalbi from Damyang, gukjeon), and Gyeongsang (Andong jjimdak, Andong soju, daegu mungtigi (raw beef slices), busan dwaeji gukbap). They will also visit local attractions such as Jeonju hanok village (traditional Korean houses), Andong Hahoe Village, and Busan’s Blue Line Park. Participants will create and share content during and after the tour to raise global awareness of regional Korean cuisine, expanding K-food beyond kimchi and bulgogi. The program is based on the “K-Local Gourmet Travel 33” list, selected with experts including manhwa artist Heo Young-man. KTO aims to turn interest in K-food into actual travel by offering concrete, travelable food-tour content.
