The Broadway blockbuster musical Frozen opens in Seoul this August with lavish sets and costumes recreating Arendelle. The show, seen by 11 million people worldwide after its 2018 Broadway debut, uses a 65-ton flying set, high-resolution laser projectors and special screens to produce expanding ice crystals, falling snow and a transforming stage in real time. Costume design features 298 outfits made from fabrics from 17 countries; Elsa’s ice dress alone took 42 days to bead by hand with over 10,000 stones. Original songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez returned to adapt familiar numbers like "Let It Go," "Love Is an Open Door," and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" alongside new songs such as "Monster" and "I Can't Lose You." The climactic moment where Elsa sings "Let It Go" uses a wire-and-costume effect to reveal her blue ice dress instantly. Cast members include Jung Sun-ah, Jung Yu-ji and Min Kyung-ah as Elsa; performances run at Seoul’s Charlotte Theater from August 13 to March 1, then move to Busan.
