The Gangwon Provincial Dance Company presented a participatory, site-specific performance series called "Beyond Imagination" at KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon. Dancers led audiences through the former children’s center building, creating immersive pieces that combined visual and auditory elements. Highlights included Huh Jung-eun’s bass-driven N-HZ, Kim Hyun-woo’s ritual-like "Layers" using hanbok elements (hansam) and bells, and the intimate duet "Between" blending swordplay and bell sounds to unite sight and hearing. Works like ", (Pause)" invited communal rest as masked performers removed masks mid-route to dance with spectators of all ages. Kim Joo-young’s "Side" explored shedding persona into vulnerability, while Kim Hyo-joon named marginalized people through movement set to vintage jazz. The finale, "Paper Airplane," featured a duet and outdoor scene with paper planes and bubbles, ending on playful, hopeful notes. The innovative, audience-engaging program showed dance as accessible and emotionally resonant; the company will perform in Cheongju on July 11 to further promote regional dance.
