South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced the establishment of a specialized independent corporation called the 'Public Art Bank' to manage all public artworks. This initiative follows the implementation of the Art Promotion Act, which expanded the definition of 'government art pieces' to include artworks owned by local governments, educational offices, and public institutions, labeling them as 'public artworks'. The Public Art Bank will serve as the central institution to systematically manage, acquire, and utilize these art pieces, distinguishing them as valuable assets rather than consumable goods.
