In Paris during Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton staged its 2027 Spring/Summer menswear show on a runway featuring an 8-meter artificial waterfall and a sand beach. The spectacle, which included musician-designer Pharrell Williams walking the set, drew backlash as much of Europe faces a severe heatwave with heat-related casualties. Critics accused the luxury group of wasting water for commercial spectacle. Paris Deputy Mayor Mélodie Tonolli said the display sent an unfortunate message during ongoing heat. LVMH, Louis Vuitton’s parent company, defended the production, saying the water came from city supply, was circulated with on-site pumps, and returned to the sewage system, and that the sand will be reused through recycling partners.
