Hyungji Global, operator of French clothing brand Castelbajac, announced the imminent launch of Hyungji Pay, a blockchain-based payment service. The company signed an MOU with blockchain firm EQBR at its Songdo fashion complex to build a next-generation blockchain point ecosystem and payment infrastructure. They simulated a stablecoin payment system to test stability and competitiveness. The completed system will be used at about 2,000 domestic Hyungji stores and across partner global distribution channels. EQBR, which runs the EQ Hub blockchain platform and offers digital wallets, blockchain points and stablecoin payment services, will help develop a Hyungji members (형지멤버스) integrated loyalty system with real-time blockchain syncing, a digital wallet for Hyungji Pay points, and a payment gateway (PG). Hyungji plans to expand a global payment ecosystem based on a Hyungji stablecoin and has filed several related trademarks. The initiative marks a retailer-led move into stablecoin payments in Korea.
