Kim Ju-yeon, a seasoned Daehangno (Korean theater district) actor known for gentle, resilient roles, joins the Korean staging of the 19+ black comedy one-woman play Fleabag. The show, famous in the UK and adapted by BBC, features sharp insults and explicit sexual jokes; Ju-yeon said she even had nightmares while deciding whether to take the role. Performing without on-stage partners, the lead breaks the fourth wall to address the audience directly, creating unpredictable nightly chemistry. Ju-yeon sees Fleabag’s bitter humor as the protagonist’s struggle to keep living, and says the role helped her become kinder to herself. The production runs at Doosan Art Center until Sept. 6; tickets 50,000–70,000 won.
