In Seoul, Hermès and Cartier opened free, large-scale immersive exhibitions that focus on brand storytelling rather than direct product sales. Hermès’ “Mystery at the Grooms” turned the maison’s equestrian heritage into a detective-style game, inviting visitors to find a missing horse by following clues among objects inspired by the brand’s history. Cartier’s “Into the Wild” leads guests through five sensory spaces tracing the panther (팬더) motif’s evolution and the maison’s nature-inspired craftsmanship, culminating in a touch-and-try area where visitors can feel actual jewelry and watches. Both shows lower the barrier to entry by being free and public-facing, yet preserve luxury’s scarcity through limited runs and reservations. The approach shifts focus from immediate purchase to long-term brand understanding by turning historical context and artisanal process into memorable, embodied experiences.
