Yeongwol Half-Price Travel Program Sells Out in 16 Minutes for July

Yeongwol County in Gangwon Province reported strong interest as its July allocation for the 'Yeongwol Half-Price Travel' program sold out in just 16 minutes. The program, part of the 2026 Local Vacation Support initiative, refunds 50% of travel expenses up to 100,000 KRW in local currency for visitors who stay overnight in Yeongwol and visit traditional markets (jeontong sijang). Although only 1,000 applicants were accepted for the July slot, about 25,000 people tried to apply through the dedicated website. Since April, the county has processed thousands of applications and refunded roughly 262 million KRW in local currency to eligible visitors. The county aims to boost stay-based tourism and local spending; August application dates will be announced in July.
