Daegu Symphony Hosts Chamber Series III: 'Trios of Classic and Romance'

Daegu Symphony Orchestra presents Chamber Series III, “Trios of Classic and Romance,” on July 8 at 7:30 PM in the Daegu Concert House Chamber Hall. The recital features principal clarinetist Kim Cha-woong, principal cellist Lee Yoon-ha, and guest pianist Lee Mi-yeon performing Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio Op.11 and Brahms’s Clarinet Trio Op.114. The concert is presented in a narrated format with clarinetist Kim offering background and listening tips, making the program approachable for both seasoned classical fans and newcomers. Beethoven’s Op.11 (nicknamed “Gassenhauer”) showcases youthful inventiveness and lively interplay among the three instruments; Brahms’s late-romantic Op.114 highlights warm, richly blended timbres between clarinet and cello across four movements, moving from melancholic opening to a passionate finale. The concert is free and open to audiences aged elementary school and up. (Gassenhauer: a nickname meaning “street song” in German.)
