K-Musical Star Ivy to Debut on Broadway as Roxy Hart

Musical actress and singer Ivy (44) announced she will perform the role of Roxy Hart in Chicago on Broadway from Aug 17 to Sep 7 at the Ambassador Theatre. After three rounds of video auditions over a year, including a last-minute recording made in a friend’s living room, she earned the part and called it a miracle. Ivy, who has played Roxy nearly 600 times in Korea since 2012, has been intensively training with nine native English coaches to improve pronunciation, intonation, and acting. She hopes her performance will help introduce K-culture and K-musical to American audiences and inspire more Korean artists to pursue Broadway. (Roxy Hart: a lead character in the musical Chicago)
