South Korean outdoor apparel brand Black Yak is rapidly expanding in China and planning a push into Europe next year. The company increased its Chinese store count to about 200 after opening 13 stores last year and 2 more in the first half of this year, with five additional openings and three store renovations planned for the rest of the year. Renovated stores have seen average sales rise by about 20%, with one location in Changchun up over 30% after reopening. BYN Black Yak aims for 330 billion KRW in annual sales this year, a 13% increase from last year. The group also plans to expand production facilities in China, shifting from its current Southeast Asia–focused manufacturing footprint to include more local capacity as domestic labor costs rise.
