Korean Hiking Center Launches 2026 University National Forest Trail Challenge

The Korea Hiking & Trekking Support Center is recruiting university students for the “2026 University National Forest Trail Challenge.” Eighteen teams (72 students) will be selected; teams must be exactly four members. Each team will choose one of nine national forest trails (e.g., Jirisan Dullegil, Hallasan Dullegil, Baekdudaegan Trail) and explore at least 10 km, documenting the trip with video and records. Beyond hiking, teams will complete missions such as discovering local attractions, plogging (picking up litter while walking), and creating recommended course content. Produced materials will be used to promote the national forest trails. Eight outstanding teams will receive awards from the Korea Forest Service and the Center, and all finishers will get completion certificates and commemorative patches. Eligible applicants are current or on-leave university students nationwide; applications are open until June 29, with results announced July 7 and activities running July 20–August 14.
