AK Holdings (Aekyung) is transforming AGE20'S from a single-hit product label—once known as the ‘mom’s compact’—into a full beauty brand by expanding from its signature watery (dewy) cushion compact into velvet compacts, lip products, and sun care. The company applies R&D know-how from its essence compact across new categories, aiming to strengthen product competitiveness within one brand rather than launching new brands. Early results show the approach working overseas: AGE20'S sales in Japan grew 99% year‑on‑year (Jan–May), while China rose 16% and the U.S. 4%. Japan’s highly segmented makeup market—where consumers switch textures by season and trend—helped the multi-category strategy succeed. Industry observers say the cosmetics market is shifting from product-led to brand-led competition: consumers increasingly choose by brand and expect diverse categories under a familiar name, which speeds new product adoption and leverages R&D and marketing efficiently. Aekyung plans to grow AGE20'S into a global beauty label covering skincare and makeup and to expand its overseas distribution networks.
