Seoul Tourism Foundation invited 10 MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) travel agents from Southeast Asia and Greater China for a fam tour from May 15–20, jointly organized with Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do under the ‘PLUS CITIES’ regional cooperation program. The initiative, part of Seoul’s long-running PLUS CITIES MICE collaboration, aims to promote joint marketing and balanced regional development. Since 2019 the foundation has built a network with 11 provinces and supported 79 Seoul–regional corporate meetings and incentive events last year, attracting 4,514 foreign visitors. Participants toured Seoul MICE venues including Sofitel Ambassador Seoul’s Jardin d’Hiver, JW Marriott Seoul, the traditional culture complex Samcheonggak, and Cardia (a new member of the Seoul MICE Alliance’s unique venues) (유니크베뉴: unique event venues). They also visited regional cultural and tourism sites such as the Ancient Printing Museum (고인쇄박물관), Yeosu cable car, Suncheon’s Naganeupseong fortress, and media studios in Gwangju and Chungnam to explore marine, historical and creative tourism assets. The foundation said the program seeks to boost repeat visits, lengthen stays and increase spending by leveraging Seoul–regional synergies and joint marketing to grow Korea’s MICE ecosystem.
