Leading Korean online fashion platforms are expanding into physical retail, copying the omni-channel playbook of early movers like Musinsa and HagoHouse. ZigZag (Zigzag), run by KakaoStyle, held its first brand pop-up for shoe label “ChakhanGudu” in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong, staging the event next to Musinsa’s megastore and even engaging in playful social media banter and coupon battles with Musinsa to drive traffic. Ably (Abley) plans its first permanent Seongsu store in the second half of the year and aims to roll out around ten offline locations as part of a strategy to reach 3 trillion KRW in annual transactions. Industry observers say the move reflects an omni-channel strategy to convert app-based “tastes shopping” into real-world experiences and create mutual online-offline traffic growth, especially as consumers value trying items in person amid a shift toward hyper-personalized trends. Musinsa’s success shows the effect: its Standard store visits jumped over 60% year-on-year (10M to 16M visitors Jan–May), while summer promotions boosted online DAU by 70% and offline megastore sales by 40%. New entrants favor Seongsu-dong for its trendsetting image and media exposure.
