'Amazing Thailand' Exhibition Brings 239 Thai Art Masterpieces to Korea for First Time

The National Museum of Korea will host 'Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art' from May 23 to September 6, displaying 239 cultural treasures from prehistoric times to the present. Organized with Thailand's Fine Arts Department and 21 national museums, the show is divided into three chronological sections: pre-Thai cultures, the glory of the Tai kingdoms (including Sukhothai, Lanna, and Ayutthaya) with highlights like the 14th-century Sukhothai 'Walking Buddha,' and the Rattanakosin (Bangkok) era emphasizing royal and Buddhist art. Curator remarks note Thai art’s history of absorbing and combining influences, and director Yu Hong-jun called the exhibit an opportunity to encounter 800 years of Thai artistic excellence in Korea.
