Incheon International Airport will carry out seismic performance evaluations on 45 facilities from 2026 to 2030 after a government audit found some airport structures could suffer collapse or severe damage in a magnitude 6.1–6.5 earthquake. The Board of Audit and Inspection flagged insufficient seismic checks, noting that only 40 of 182 older facilities (built before strengthened post-2016 standards) were evaluated because others were assumed to meet past criteria. A preliminary audit of 23 facilities found 13 at high risk. The airport operator says three internal teams are conducting assessments and will plan reinforcements where needed.
