Chuncheon’s downtown is hosting a wave of cultural events through the end of the month, turning venues like Chuncheon Art Center (춘천예술마당), Chuncheon Museum of Art, Yaksa-cheon Riverside Park, Chuncheon Puppet Theatre (춘천인형극장) and Soyang Art Circle into exhibition and performance spaces. The 4th Chuncheon Art Fair “Arroad” runs until the 24th across Chuncheon Museum of Art, Art Plaza Gallery and Bomnae Theatre, featuring 50 local artists with opportunities for the public to meet creators. The Chuncheon Theatre Arts Festival opened on the 20th at the puppet theatre with city mayor Yuk Dong-han and a national theatre association leader attending; performances include the award-winning play “Dentong Eomideon, That Old Story,” community-made stages, and a commemorative exhibition on 60 years of Chuncheon theatre. The festival continues through the 27th across multiple small venues. Separately, the 2026 Chuncheon Theatre Festival began on the 11th and runs until November, with a special invited performance of “Around the World in 80 Days” on July 3, a staged reading of “Gangneung 96” in October, and the nationwide “20-minute Bomnae Theatre Festival” running into September. Outreach performances will visit locations like Chuncheon Prison, hospitals and universities from August to October, and free monthly street shows will be held at Gongji-cheon and Uiam Park through October.
