The Seoul City Theater is set to open its 2025 season with 'Com!que', a Korean play reinterpreting German playwright Karl Valentin's work. Directed by Im Dowan, the play employs physical theater—a form focused on actors' expressions and gestures—to deliver its narrative. Featuring ten episodes over 100 minutes, the play uses various Korean dialects, including those from North Korea and Yanbian (a Korean autonomous prefecture in China). The unique incorporation of dialects aims to display diverse perspectives within society. Although titled 'Com!que', the play explores deeper societal issues through humorous scenes, such as the 'Divorce Court' episode highlighting differing views in society. The play runs until the end of next month at Sejong Center's M Theatre.
