The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft and Design Foundation are hosting '2026 Craft Week' from June 19–28, centered in Buyeo, Chungcheongnam-do, with more than 450 programs across 10 cities and about 200 studios participating as 'Craft Week Friends' (공예주간 프렌즈). This year emphasizes local cultural resources expressed through craft: Baekje heritage in Buyeo, ecology and history in Sejong and Gongju, and maritime culture in Busan and Ulsan, combined with stay-and-craft travel. Buyeo’s program, themed “Staying with Craft in Buyeo,” includes studio tours in Gyuyam-myeon’s 123 Sabi Craft Village, a craft market along the Baekma River, a “craft runcation” (공예 런케이션), outdoor reading sessions, and a traditional tea gathering. KCDF Gallery in Seoul runs a special exhibition, Texture of Local, showcasing 12 artists from participating regions using local materials and techniques. Regional programs span ecological craft using native plants, Paleolithic pottery workshops, craft-and-healing trips, seaside jazz-and-craft festivals, industrial-material reinterpretation exhibitions, ‘Pachi Market’ and studio tours in Jeju, and open studios and special exhibitions nationwide. Korail Tourism offers craft travel packages centered on Buyeo, and a platform called Nolu Universe provides limited accommodation discounts in Buyeo, Gongju, and Jeonju.
