The solo exhibition 'Sculpted Paper, Folded Sculpture' by late artist Kim In Kyum is being held at Wooson Gallery in Daegu until April 19. Known for creating his own unique sculptural language distinct from traditional heavy materials like stone and wood, Kim found inspiration in lightweight paper, transforming it into 3D forms through simple folding techniques. His daughter, Kim Jae-do, a professor at Hongik University, curated the exhibition showcasing these works, emphasizing the simplicity of folding a single sheet into a complex structure. Also included are large site-specific sculptural projects and 'Squeeze' work with ink on paper, highlighting the blend of drawing and sculpting. The exhibition strives to reach a new realm of sculpture, creating a sense of heavy space through emptiness.
