Min Pyong-gal, known as the 'blue-eyed Korean,' founded Korea's first private arboretum, Chollipo Arboretum in Taean, South Korea. Documents related to the arboretum are set to be registered as a national cultural heritage. This includes land purchase certificates, diaries on plant collection, propagation, management, and personal correspondence. Chollipo Arboretum hosts 16,895 species of plants, the most in Korea. It was recognized as one of the 'World's Beautiful Arboreta' in 2000 and Min received the Geumtapsan Industrial Medal for his contributions in 2002.
