Differential Commission for Delivery Apps Spread 'Dual Pricing'

Recently, prices for coffee and burgers in Korea have been increasing, and a 'dual pricing' system where delivery menu prices are higher than in-store prices is becoming more common. Even after a differential commission was introduced for delivery apps, reducing commission rates for many restaurant owners, the practice of dual pricing is continuing. Major brands like Ediya Coffee, Mom's Touch, and Kyochon Chicken are adjusting delivery menu prices, citing increased operating costs due to higher delivery commissions. Notably, while headquarters like Mom's Touch advise against it, some individual franchise owners have raised delivery prices, leading to varied increases across different locations. This trend is similar across other major fast-food brands like Lotteria and McDonald's. Although delivery app companies such as Baemin and Coupang Eats have introduced tiered commission structures to ease the burden on business owners, the dual pricing strategy remains prevalent in the restaurant industry.
