South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization will host a DMZ Peace Trail walk on June 12 at Course 26 in Yanggu, Gangwon Province. About 1,000 participants will walk a roughly 90-minute section that includes Dutayeon (a civilian-controlled ecological tourism site known as the ‘road to Geumgangsan’), then receive a completion medal. Singer Sean will join the walk. Afterward, walkers may visit either Yanggu Baekja Museum or Park Soo-keun Art Museum. Registration is free and open via the official website and Instagram; the event is sponsored by the Korean Tourism Association and shoe brand LeMuton, which will give shoes to 50 participants who post about the experience on social media. The organizers aim to promote the unique value of the DMZ and walking tourism, and allow students of tourism-related programs to experience security and ecological tourism firsthand.
