CJ CheilJedang has joined hands with Incheon City and Incheon University to develop methods for cultivating 'gim' (Korean seaweed, also known as laver) on land. This initiative aims to create a stable production environment, unaffected by rising sea temperatures, by utilizing advanced aquaculture technologies. Given the rising demand and price of 'gim', this project is a significant step towards stabilizing the market and expanding global reach. The collaboration will leverage Incheon University's expertise in 'gim' seed production and research, combined with CJ CheilJedang's aquaculture technology. The partnership also involves adapting former aquaculture sites in Jeju for land-based 'gim' farming. This venture could help establish a reliable supply of high-quality 'gim', which is a popular export product from Korea.
